  • Alternate Character Interpretation:
    • It's unclear if Three was already crazy to begin with, or only after he was turned into a rat mutant. Even before he was injected and turned by the serum, he already had his signature "WAH HA HA HA HAH!" laugh as a response to Two's head growing legs and running away, but it's unclear if it was Mirthless Laughter or Comedic Sociopathy.
    • It seems very Out Of Character for Three to put Pamela in a rising water Death Trap considering that he immediately slaughters everyone or everything else he meets. However, Pamela is the only female character he comes across, which means that Three may have some kind of twisted soft spot for women to the point where he doesn't violently kill them. Even in the ending where Pamela is the only one to escape, he opts to drown her instead of messily grinding her head against the boat's propeller, like he does with Five in the worst ending.
  • Fridge Brilliance: During the first part of the game where Five needs to hide in the lockers to avoid Three, Three will always open the third locker from the left (and kill Five if he hid in there). Of course he'd open the third locker, since his number is Three!
  • Narm: A lot of the dialogue is riddled with corny pop culture references and clunky translation, which tends to clash with the game's bleak presentation. Five in particular has a lot of lines of him cracking wise at the worst possible moments. However, given the general tone of the game, it borderlines on Narm Charm.
