YMMV / Queens of Mewni

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: There's one for Etheria II.
  • Diagnosed by the Audience:
    • Helia has a condition based on autism, but the creator has stated that it's not quite like it. However, many recursive fanworks actually make her autistic.
    • Hesperia claimed that she could "listen to nature's song and see its colours", which has lead many to interpret as her having synesthesia.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Venus is undoubtedly the most popular of the original queens; with her colorful design, her fashion sense, her crazy high libido and ownership of her sexuality, she's the perfect subject for both wholesome and Rule 34 fanarts.
  • Epileptic Trees: Just for fun, jgss0109 made an iceberg of the theories fans have bandied around about this fic.
  • Fanon: Fanfics had helped to establish some more in-depth ideas for some queens:
    • When she dipped down, the stars in Estelaria's hair shined brighter.
    • Etheria hated her Embarrassing Middle Name, Normanda.
    • Venus' reign is depicted as a Cult of Personality thanks to everyone being too blinded by her beauty.
    • Helia's bio shows her mom confusing a page about her feelings for her cousin as "poetry"; the fandom ran with it and depict Helia's literary attempts as hard-to-read Purple Prose.
    • Many fans ignore Word of God's statement that Helia's condition isn't entirely like autism, and potray her as actually autistic.
    • Meteora I is afraid of ghosts.
    • Fans believe Jokinna's epilepsia was actually her mind time-travelling to the future and witnessing important events.
    • Some fans believe Luna would have taken in Meteora II had she learned of her existence.
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Asteria's title as "the Mother of Stars". Constellations in Mewni are known as a "family of stars", meaning that she discovering the ten elliptical ones made her their mother.
    • Skywynne growing so ashamed of herself after her and Filbric's night of passion in the castle's kitchen explains why Nebula was born fourteen years after their firstborn.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: A lot of the more questionable events, particularly Luna getting pregnant at 13, come off much worse after Jon was exposed as a sexual predator who groomed a 12 year old (especially since he said Luna was his favorite).
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Meteora the Relentless was a Fantastic Racist towards Monsters. Canonically, a character named Meteora is a half-mewman half-monster child.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Moral Event Horizon: Nixie had some defenders among the readers even after she killed three people, but everybody came to despise her after the reveal that she tampered with Hemera's food to cause her three miscarriages, not only revealing she's been poisoning her sister slowly from so long, but also negating Hemera the opportunity to be a mother multiple times.
