- King George and his crew have earned a fanbase for providing comic relief in a dark series.
- Pote has garnered a lot of fans for being loyal and a badass.
- Funny Moments: In "Queen of Pentacles", King George's reaction to seeing Pote all bruised up is to ask if he tried to mate with an actual Wookiee.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- In "El Nacimiento de Bolivia", La Capitana forces Teresa to ingest a near-lethal amount of cocaine.
- In "El Camino de la Muerte", every goddamned thing about El Santo and his cult is creepy, from the little girls with the devil masks to the drug trip.
- Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: It's the story of a young woman struggling to outmaneuver a pair of brutal drug lords in the middle of an ugly divorce, on her way to becoming a brutal drug lord herself. And the very first episode shows her being shot, apparently fatally. It's a bit of a hard sell, especially on USA, which used to be known for more optimistic fare.
