• I Am Not Shazam: Pushmo is the name of the puzzles, not who Mallo the main character is despite resembling a sumo wrestler.
• Most Wonderful Sound: The victory jingle.
• Scrappy Mechanic: Stretchmo introduces a type of gadget called Gizmo's that are used to reach higher areas, however what these blocks all have in common is that they can hurt you and when this happens you fall back onto the ground with the puzzle left unchanged and you can't rewind back so at times you'll be forced to start these puzzles from scratch and to add insult to injury some Gizmos move on their own so they'll have a tendency to move away from where you need them to go.
• Spiritual Successor: This series could be seen as one to the Kururin series as both are puzzle game series published by Nintendo that are prominent in specific eras and whose protagonists are made cuter than a cup of sugar.
• Surprise Difficulty: Some puzzles look simple, even though they might be quite tough. On the other hand, there is a difficulty ranking system which will give you an idea of how tough a puzzle will be.
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Catherine fans often accuse Pushmo of this, due to both games involving pulling out blocks and climbing.
