YMMV / Pugmire

  • Heartwarming Moments: Yosha and Pan's Odd Friendship becomes this at times. They are very different dogs, but they are both good people in their own ways, and they recognise each other's worth despite disagreeing about many things.
Pan: This is what I do: I hunt monsters. I don't need to dress up every horrible thing as a "demon" to know it's dangerous and needs to be stopped. Monsters are bad for everyone, civilised and free dogs alike, and if I go to my eternal rest putting an arrow into a rampaging monster, then I've lived a good life.
Yosha: And that's why you're a good dog, Pan.
  • Narm: Yosha's sidebar explaining Pugmire marriage customs is entirely well-intentioned, but being lectured by a talking pug dog about accepting gay marriage and polyamory feels... strange.
  • Paranoia Fuel: The Unseen. Malicious, invisible creatures that seem to want nothing but to cause harm. Some can possess your friends and turn them against you. Others can just kill you outright, without you having any way to defend yourself from them. A rare few dogs can see and fight the Unseen, but barring their intervention, the rest are entirely at their mercy.
    • In a wider context, the game implies that even pre-uplifting some dogs were able to perceive the Unseen, and would bark at them to warn their hapless human masters. So the next time your dog starts barking for no apparent reason in the middle of the night...
  • Ugly Cute: Yosha. Well, she is a pug, after all.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: The Uplifted Animals within the setting are depicted in the art as having realistic animal-like heads rather than being straight-up furries. When they're wearing body-concealing clothes that make their bodies look fully human, the effect is faintly unsettling. Whereas when they wear clothes that show that they have tails, digitigrade hind legs, etc., it's much easier to just see them as cute animals who just happen to be sentient and walk upright.
