  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In one strip, which was released in 1989, Wisedog (one of Polgas's many alter-egos) plays some games on his Nintendog. Then in 2005... there came the actual Nintendogs.
    • Another strip demonstrates how poisonous Igno's blood is, by showing a cobra that fell dead after biting him. And in December 2023, a python died after being bit by a man who fended off the snake's attack.
    • One strip has Polgas complaining and Suddenly Shouting due to the local cinema release of Spider-Man 2 being delayed to make room for the Metro Manila Film Festival. Years later, the exact same thing happened to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home due to the very same festival, and Medina noted the deja vu on his Twitter. What makes this extra hilarious is that No Way Home features the return of Tobey Maguire's Peter, and even more significantly for Filipinos, the Fil-Am Ned Leeds's grandmother (lola) telling off Tobey and Andrew Garfield's Peters in the Filipino language - so that the audience who would have appreciated this the most were forced to see it later than most.
  • Squick: Featured as one of its running gags: Polgas and Dagul's table conversations usually get derailed into something gross or disgusting, with them occasionally ending their chitchats with Debbie telling them to leave the table.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Given that the comics debuted during Corazon Aquino's administration in the late 1980s, all the current events and pop culture references during those times were discussed.
  • Values Resonance:
    • The Chinese militia act as the primary antagonists in one chapter. Mainland China under the control of the CCP are responsible for causing tensions in the South China/Sea of Asia by militarizing islands and bullying its neighbors which plague them to this day.
    • Corruption in the government, from politicians and officials to police, in light of violence against independent journalists, rival politicians, and environmental groups, former President Duterte's bloody war on drugs, and as well as displacing its residents and being responsible for environmental destruction. It's telling that the regular cast members representing these aspects of society are relatively less developed than the rest of the cast.
