YMMV / Pterosaurs: Natural History, Evolution, Anatomy

Go To

  • Awesome Art: Mark Witton is a very talented artist. Special mention goes to the Nyctosaurus that graces the book's main cover.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Among Witton's acknowledgements, he gives a "disacknowledgement" to his girlfriend Georgia, which was basically a really snarky and Tsundere-ish love letter to her.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Hatzegopteryx, a giraffe-sized macropredator.
  • Ugly Cute: Many of the pterosaurs, but the anurognathids in particular, which look like tiny little flying muppets.
  • Woobie Species: Pterosaurs. They're extinct, for one thing, but unlike their dinosaur cousins they left no living descendants, meaning that their lineage is gone forever. To add insult to the injury, despite their magnificence and the fact that they're quite unlike anything in the world today, the pterosaurs are very often shoved to the side in favor of their more well-known relatives or otherwise lumped in with them.
