- Tear Jerker: In Chapter 8, D.W. is visited by Nadine. Despite D.W.'s satisfaction at having her imaginary friend back, Nadine doesn't want to stay by her side anymore and gives her a poignant speech telling her that she kept hurting people without caring at all, that she'd be in prison if she were older, that despite her attempts to get her to improve, she still set the house on fire, that she destroyed her entire life and only has one chance to rebuild it, that her actions resulted in Grandma Thora's death and she has to live with that fact for eternity (which finally gets D.W. to show remorse for her actions), that she can't give her a second chance, and that she should listen to Dr. Paula. After that, she abandons D.W. for good.
