YMMV / Project Spark

Go To

  • Annoying Video Game Helper: A series of options in the crossroads mode gives you access to a ghost companion, who has the ability to incapacitate an enemy for a while. What makes it annoying is that the enemy becomes completely invulnerable during that time, so it can lead to situations where you're unable to progress because she's constantly stunning them before you can even damage them.
  • Cliché Storm: "Champions Quest" is a dime a dozen "Evil force from another dimension is invading, so a band of heroes fight through hordes of bad guys to gather a magic artifact to save the day." fantasy story.
  • Demonic Spiders: The Void spawn from Champions Quest. They are frequent in number and can quickly increase in strength, and they will mop the floor with you if you aren't careful.
  • Goddamned Bats: The Gas Mask Tediz, an unlockable enemy for Crossroads mode. They have noticeably more health than a standard Tediz soldier, and because they move slowly and usually don't directly attack you like the regular Tediz (which usually preoccupy your combat), their gas grenades (which in themselves are tricky to dodge) can easily blindside you.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Some admit to only being interested in it because of Conker getting a new game as DLC for the project, in addition to being an unlockable champion.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Some of the community games fall into this. "Find the Forest" is one of the most well known examples—you play as a Goblin trying to rescue his friends, running through a white void as black, twisted scenery with bizarre perspective spawns all around him, and it will damage or even crush him if it isn't careful. There's a lot of downright creepy enemy designs, and unsettling scenes like a colony of trolls running far away from you in the distance, screaming for help...
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The game's infamous trailer that teased a new Conker game, only to reveal that it was actually more or less a game-building tool that included some assets from Conker, is easily the first thing anyone knows about it—and not in a good way.
  • Play the Game, Skip the Story: After the tutorial, you don't even have to play story driven Champions Quest mode—you can get right to creating your own levels or playing Crossroads, or just playing with Community Games.
  • That One Boss: The Goblin boss of Champions Quest 1-3. He has insanely high stamina, and he hits hard and fast. You will lose at least one character in the fight. And in 1-6, you fight two of them (though unlike the first fight, you can buy time by having the scenery block their paths while you attack them from a distance).
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The game has stunning graphics and allows you to make games with just as slick presentation. The world building process in creative mode is simply splendid to behold. You can set it to where scenery instantly appears at the push of a button, but you will want to set it to where you can literally see the scenery grow and morph in front of your eyes.
