• Americans Hate Tingle: The show only got a brief run in America, on the equally short-lived spinoff of Fox Family, the "girlzChannel", around 2000.
• Awesome Music: Just listen to the opening theme.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: A recurring one in the form of Zottornick's Living Shadow.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Zottornick, due to being voiced by the very talented Rick Jones.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The show is really popular in Greece, to the point that it got additional songs there. It is also popular in Italy and has a lot of merchandise there.
• Moral Event Horizon:
  • The very first episode has Arkas accuse a peasant of poaching on his lands, so he ties the man up and forces him to watch as his house is set on fire with his family still inside of it, including the young daughter, Lisa.
  • Zottornick's obsession with acquiring power by exacerbating tensions between Austria and Hungary leads to him tricking Austrian soldiers into nearly killing their own Princes Karl and Franz during a genial meeting between the princes and the Hungarians.
    Zottornick: Such sweet music. The failure of the peace... is my greatest victory.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: You would expect that with Arkas as Zottornick's second-in-command, the two would have a dynamic similar to Richelieu and Rochefort in adaptations of The Three Musketeers. Not even. Arkas ends up getting as distantly connected to his superior's plots as possible making the whole Arkas' becoming Zottornick's dragon thing a missed opportunity.
