YMMV / Power Rangers Dino Force Brave

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The opening song is an energetic and dramatic K-pop ballad that serves as a worthy successor to the original series' opening. The same can be said for the ending, which not only is more energetic and light-hearted but just as catchy and fun as the original's.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Just Here for Godzilla: At least a few K-pop fans watched this show for the actors.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Shigeru Chiba returning to voice the equipment and narration in the Japanese dubbed version makes this feel like a Kyoryuger sequel (at least for those watch the original series in Japanese).
  • Older Than They Think: This is not the first time that Korea used the "Power Rangers" name for their dubs, as their previously dubbed series (from Abaranger to current) had possessed the name.
  • Questionable Casting: Seemingly the case when Yamato Kinjo, previously Nossan/KyoryuBlue, was announced as the dub voice of Black instead - turns out one of the first major changes was turning Brave Black into The Big Guy, exchanging his characterization with Brave Blue. In hindsight, though, they still kept Kinjo tied to the Stegosaurus mecha.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general opinion on this mini-series. While it's not terrible and has some highlights, there's nothing too notable that makes it stand out.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: Can be seen as one of Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger 100 Years After; both films deal with a new generation of rangers after the originals have gone by (although the Dino Force Brave Rangers don't seem to be related familial-wise to the original Dino Force Rangers/Kyoryugers).
  • Subbing vs. Dubbing: Probably split between fans who watched the original series in Japanese or Korean. For Japanese fans of the original Kyoryuger, the dub would likely be preferred as Shigeru Chiba (see Most Wonderful Sound above), Toshiyuki Morikawa, Haruka Tomatsu, and Ai Orikasa reprise their roles as narrator/equipment, Torin, Candelilla, and Luckyuro respectively.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Arguably, everybody but Gold and Red to a lesser extent. The remaining four members of the heroes don't change much at all, the villains are just there, and Candelilla and Luckyuro hardly do anything.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Candelilla and Luckyuro, who became the future mentors for the Kyoryugers, are not actually shown mentoring. We could've seen a slightly different style of mentor from Torin, but nope.
  • Unexpected Character: The Zyuohgers, who are being dubbed into Power Rangers Animal Force in Korea, appearing in the finale. They even got Yamato's actor for a full cameo.
  • WTH, Costuming Department?:
    • Black, Blue, Green, and Pink’s helmets. With the exception of Red and Gold, who still control their original Tyrannosaurus and Pteranodon respectively, which ranger controls which dinosaur has been shuffled around from Kyoryuger, with Black (formerly controlling a Parasaurolophus) now controlling a Stegosaurus, Blue (formerly a Stegosaurus) now controlling a Triceratops, Green (formerly a Velociraptor) now controlling a Parasaurolophus, and Pink (formerly a Triceratops) now controlling a Velociraptor. The problem is that their suits are simply slightly modified versions of the original Kyoryuger suits, with helmets depicting their original dinosaurs and not their new ones. This is especially egregious in the case of Green and Pink, whose helmets depict dinosaurs (Velociraptor and Triceratops respectively) that are very clearly NOT the dinosaurs they actually control (Parasaurolophus and Velociraptor respectively). Why they didn’t simply recolor and shuffle around the helmets to the proper ranger, or even shuffle around the dinosaurs at all, is anyone’s guess.
    • The "slightly modified" thing above doesn't apply to Gold's suit, which is identical to that of the original Kyoryu Gold. The only difference is a recolored Transformation Trinket.
