YMMV / Pokémon S1E40 "The Battling Eevee Brothers"

• Designated Hero: Mikey's brothers are this; in first half of the episode they completely ignore Mikey's feelings about not wanting to battle, let alone evolve his Eevee. They essentially guilt-trip him until he finally says that he wants to become an Eevee-trainer, only for them to respond, "Why you didn't tell this sooner?"
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Mikey's dilemma either gets much simpler or more complicated by the introduction of five more Eeveelutions in later generations. It wouldn't even take any extra effort on his part to get an Espeon, Umbreon, or Sylveon. Even more so when you realize him refusing to evolve Eevee may pay off in him getting a Gigantamax form, or being able to use Extreme Evoboost.
• Harsher in Hindsight: The Team Rocket Trio plan to use all three Evolution stones on Eevee at once. In the Pokémon Adventures, Team Rocket scientists experimented on an Eevee to give it to the ability to freely change from an Eevee into any of its three Generation I evolutions (Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon) and back, which clearly distressed it.
