YMMV / Pokemon S 10 E 49 Dawns Early Night

• Hilarious in Hindsight: When Nando is introduced to Zoey as a trainer who is taking on Gyms and Contests simultaneously, Zoey remarks in irritation that maybe Nando should "make up his mind", as she believes the two quests don't go together. While the episode seems to prove Zoey wrong when Nando defeats her in the Contest, Nando stops appearing for a long stretch of the series afterwards until Sinnoh League Victors, where he makes it to the semifinal round of the Grand Festival and battles Zoey again (this time he loses, but after a very close match) only to later lose to Ash in the first round of the Sinnoh League. Given that this seems to demonstrate his passion and talent in Contests far exceeded his skill against trainers in regular competitive League battles, perhaps he was better suited for Contests and Zoey had the right idea after all.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Zoey's battle with Nando could have been a good way to demonstrate their clashing philosophies when it comes to Contests and battles, and/or show why and how Nando was able to impress Zoey in spite of her initial disdain for him, but it's entirely offscreen.
• The Woobie: Dawn loses in the appeal stage of the Contest again and is really broken up about it. To make it worse, Jessie rubs it in her face when she gets past the appeal stage and Dawn doesn't.
