YMMV / Pokémon: Attack of Mewtwo

Go To

  • Ass Pull: The "reveal" that Mewtwo wasn't behind the attack on Oak's lab.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
    • The scene with the demon worshipers and furries in the fourth chapter in the sequel. It was never mentioned again afterwards.
    • In Chapter 6, the narration suddenly says "Edward Cullen" in the middle of nowhere. It's not connected to anything else in the story, he doesn't appear anywhere, and it's never referenced again. It's almost as if a fragment of another story got mixed in with this one.
  • Canon Defilement: Yep, names of attacks and Pokémon are misspelled, for one, and let's not forget how Jake's regular-colored Ralts evolved into a Shiny Gallade in the fourth chapter.
  • Funny Moments:
    • "And then Vaprion use HYDRO PIMP!"
    • "...and Mewtwo shat sichic at her."
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Eevee grows wings. Come the Sinnoh Grand Festival, Zoey's Leafeon temporarily sports wings created with psychic powers.
    • Mewthree now exists. Even more hilarious, it starts off as Mewtwo!
      • Even more hilariously, the 16th movie features a Mewtwo who is apparently different from the one we've met before in the anime. You know, the one-of-a-kind Pokémon, Mewtwo. So this second one is essentially Mewthree.
    • When trying to kill Sarah's friends, Salamence transforms into a jet for no discernible reason. A few games later, Salamence gets a Mega Evolution, which is intentionally designed to resemble an aircraft.
