YMMV / Point Blank (1967)

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: There are those who argue that Walker is actually a ghost.
    • Others argue the same thing about Yost, who only Walker seems to see or interact with until the very end.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Lloyd Bochner as a high-ranking corporate executive who’s shot dead by one of the other Big Bads partially due to the protagonist’s actions. His son Hart Bochner’s character would later suffer a similar fate in Die Hard.
  • Ho Yay: When Walker terrorizes Mal Reese after Reese gets done having sex, Reese begs for Walker to let him get dressed, but Walker insists on keeping Reese naked and wrapped up in a bed sheet, saying "I want you that way." Walker keeps Reese that way all the way up to Reese falling off the roof to this death... NAKED.
  • Narm: Mal Reese falling to his death NAKED comes off being more funny than dramatic or even symbolic.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Brewster has less than ten minutes of screen time near the end, but Carroll O'Connor makes quite an impression as a milquetoast accountant trying to play a game way over his head.
  • Protection from Editors: Lee Marvin was such a hot property that MGM gave him total creative control over the film, which he then handed off to John Boorman.
  • Special Effect Failure: Reese's nude falling body is a horribly stiff and awkward optical effect.
