- Hollywood Homely: Justice becomes this after her boyfriend is shot in front of her. Before, she sported a yellow crop top and displayed her braids. Afterwards, she dresses in all black, oversized clothing and wears hats. Even in mom jeans and a newsboy hat, its still freaking Janet Jackson.
- Retroactive Recognition: A young Usher made his musical debut on the film's soundtrack album, with "Call Me a Mack".
- Tear Jerker: Watching Justice stare herself down in the mirror and cry over what she's lost can definitely inspire tears. Doesn't help that she's doing it to Stevie Wonder's "Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer".
