YMMV / Piglet's Big Movie

Go To

  • Older than You Think: The movie's rewrite of Kanga and Roo's backstory seems to take nods from The Book of Pooh, where the two weren't introduced until midway into the show. Doubles as Franchise Original Sin, as the show's canon was altered slightly, and Tigger's presence had more meaning since the flashback emphasised him and Roo starting to bond, neither of which are really in play in the film's flashback.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: The console tie-in game (Piglet's Big Game) manages to be a fairly charming, if simple game that has a great presentation overall and maintains a lot of the series' original charm, with all the movie's cast reprising their roles. It wasn't going to win awards or anything, but it's still a fairly polished and decently enjoyable game for its target audience. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for...
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: ...the PC version of the same game, which is In Name Only and otherwise is completely different. It's a point-and-click Adventure Game, but the plot is incredibly simple and straightforward (you're literally just getting ingredients for a soup), the puzzles are way too easy even with the game's target audience in mind, and it's already over almost as quickly as it begins. To make matters worse, a lot of the people behind this disappointment also worked on the wildly successful Humongous Entertainment point-and-clicks.
  • The Woobie: While Piglet was always conceived for this role, it is here that it truly shines; he wants to help his friends in the beginning from getting honey from a beehive, but they refuse because he is too small. And when he does save the day by trapping a swarm of angry bees in a fake hive, no one notices, leaving him sadly trudging off before having a change of heart and running back to the group... only to find them all gone and the bees escaped, leaving him in a reaction not too far from My Greatest Failure. Meanwhile, his friends notice him missing and go searching for him using Piglet's scrapbook, realizing all the way how badly they've taken him for granted, pawning off his exploits to others by accident while Piglet, despite knowing it was him who did so, cheers along. Fortunately, they make it up to him.
