- Audience-Alienating Era: In the Summer of 2018, PieGuy abruptly halted all his ongoing series in favor of solely making the RE-CAST podcast. While the RE-CAST had a devoted fanbase, it wasn't the kind of content that the majority of his viewers subscribed for. Until late 2020, PieGuy would only make a single scripted cartoon review, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, all of his other edited videos consisted of rants about various members of the animation industry and reviews of streaming services, with his most popular series "Every episode of Spongebob Square Pants reviewed even getting Quietly Cancelled around this time. Not helping matters is A.J. would cease any proper communication with his viewers on what was causing the lack of output, resulting in the RE-CAST getting Misblamed for the lack of output, eventually hurting the podcast's viewership. While PieGuy would return to more familiar content starting in December 2020 and continue throughout 2021, the damage had been done and his channel's viewership had plummeted. Said low viewership was later cited by A.J. as a contributing factor towards his decision to retire from YouTube in 2022 (with the retirement not formally announced until 2023).
- Broken Base: Is the sudden influx of the RE-Cast podcast good or bad? The lack of any videos related to his other series being made (to the point that many were flat-out put on hiatus) certainly doesn't help too much for long-time fans that aren't interested in RE-Cast. This came to a head around early March, when certain people actually began to call out Pieguy on Twitter about his lack of word on the matter, and ultimately culminated when Pieguy claimed he had no interest to finish his Season 11 review and only planned to do the podcast full-time. Eventually, he ended the "Every Episode of SpongeBob Reviewed" series and started anew with a new "Every Episode Reviewed" series focused on Adventure Time, though Pieguy would only do the first two seasons before deciding to call it quits on Youtube.
- Growing the Beard: This began happening in about 2009, coinciding with his 7th Cartoon Network Rant
and his Hyperscan review. The beard continued to grow after that, until he hit his stride in 2011, around the time of his Problem Solverz rant.- On the more literal side of things, his actual beard made its first appearance in his '90s Are All That Pre-Show Comments video
- For the seasonal SpongeBob reviews, this began with the Season 3 Review, since that was when more ScumBob episodes started to appear. Also, it was the first to include the airdate and airing number of the episodes, and had more detailed art than the previous two reviews. The beard grew further in the Season 4 video, which introduced the PieCons, was the first one to have Erin do the majority of the artwork, and was the first one to have the "PieGuy the Pirate" picture at the beginning.

- Harsher in Hindsight:
- In the video where Chuggaaconroy talks to PieGuy about some of his favorite episodes SpongeBob SquarePants they both spoke highly of the episode "Pickles", noting how relatable the premise was: losing confidence in your abilities after a single mistake. In 2020, Pieguy would admit the reason he switched the focus of his channel to making Podcasts was from a personal betrayal caused that exact dilemma for him regarding his video-making skills, even citing "Pickles" as a comparison. Even worse, is that this incident would be the catalyst that eventually led to the demise of his channel in 2023.
- The post-credits scene for his review of ''SpongeBob'' Season 10 has him announce that he will no longer review the series, only to reveal he was simply joking, and that he will keep reviewing the series even if it runs for 10 more seasons. Almost a year later, he would announce on Twitter that he has lost all motivation to review the entire series. This not only lead to the He's Back! moment being edited out of the video, but a few years later Pieguy would lose his motivation to make any videos.
- His friendship with fellow Youtuber and collaborator Cosmodore is rather cringeworthy to look back at now after the latter admitted to have knowingly dated an underage girl which lead to PieGuy cutting all ties with him. In particular, one of the two (now deleted) RE-CAST episodes Commodore guest-starred in was called "Planet Sheen is a Crime", a title which now looks wince-worthy with knowledge of Cosmodore's actions.
- He Panned It, Now He Sucks!: Pie Guy has a track record of receiving reactions more along the lines of "He Found It Average, Now He Sucks" than anything else:
- During the beginning of his second point in his Square Theory video "Why Do I Wish SpongeBob Was Canceled?", he listed Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends as an example of a show that, although not disliked, was considered to be So Okay, It's Average during Cartoon Network's Audience-Alienating Era, lumping it in with other shows around the same time such as Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, and Squirrel Boy. Many fans questioned why he lumped it in with the others, as the show had a much more positive reception comparable to the classic Cartoon Cartoons.
- As far as the "Every Episode Of SpongeBob Reviewed" series goes, he called "Have You Seen This Snail?" (widely considered to be one of the series's landmark episodes) "Meh" due to feeling that the episode, while far from being a "ScumBob" episode, was overall too sad to watch without enough humor to balance it out. This similarly garnered enough criticism that the episode later got a standalone video where PieGuy explained himself better, along with reiterating that his opinion about the episode was his own personal opinion and he wasn't trying to call the episode objectively bad or average.
- As far as entire seasons of SpongeBob go, Pie Guy gave Season 10 (a season considered by much of the SpongeBob fanbase to be a major step up from previous seasons) a "Meh" rating, mostly due to the season using so many ideas and concepts from earlier seasons that it came off as lazily retreading past ideas to him, along with not finding many of the episodes especially funny. That being said, he did consider most of the episodes that tried something different to still be really good (particularly "Mimic Madness", "Feral Friends", and "Code Yellow", among some others). Despite giving enough reasons for why he didn't think Season 10 was a total ScumBob in his opinion, however, Pie Guy's fanbase reacted as though he gave Season 10 that rating anyway and raised a stink. The hostile reaction to the Season 10 review ultimately played a factor in Pie Guy ending the "Every Episode of SpongeBob Reviewed" series.

- Memetic Mutation: During one of his (sadly lost) gaming streams, the chat started quoting everything he said and putting "- PieGuyRulz, 2015" at the end. It even spread to Twitter: Example 1 Example 2
- Nightmare Fuel:
- In his review of Season 6 of Spongebob he tells a story of how he was hospitalized as a kid, after he walked barefoot on a deck, and ended up with loads of splinters in his feet. In fact, there were so many, the doctors couldn't even get all of them out, so he had to soak his feet in hot water for weeks just to get the rest out. The music in the background makes it even more scarier.
