YMMV / Persona 4 Endurance Run

Go To

  • Archive Panic: 155 episodes that range anywhere from ten minutes to an hour and a half long, with a total runtime exceeding four days. Watching them all can be an endurance run in and of itself.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Because they don't remember anything about Persona 3, the entire Chihiro cameo in Part 100 comes off as this to them, with a girl they don't know talking about what happened to her in the past two years seemingly for no reason.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Fox, the Funky Student and Black Frost.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In Part 25, Jeff and Vinny make a crack at Nanako's excitement on going on a trip by suggesting that they all go into the TV. Guess what happens in November.
Remember when this game was funny?
    • In Part 15, they joke about Morooka popping out of a grave near a shrine. He dies later in the game.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The last few minutes of the closing episode. After hours upon hours of fusing, grinding, and thinking about Fox, Vinny and Jeff have finally reached the end and reflect on how they enjoyed the game.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Just watch the beginning of Part 92. Three minutes in, they say how awesome it would be if a one-off character turned out to be the killer. Yeah, they're totally talking about the gas station attendant.
    • On a similar note, they joke in Part 40 about the gas station being the end of the game. They were half right.
      • In actuality, part of this was because of the fact that Jeff was partially spoiled on the nature of the Gas Station Attendant when someone sent him the Hiimdaisy webcomic. Gigi (being a fan of the series) was slightly upset about this.
    • In separate episodes, they make references to making a fighting game and wanting to watch an anime of Persona 4. They had no idea how right they were.
    • Not only that, but in Part 71 they made an offhand comment that "You can't ride motorcycles inside the TV world." Guess what was added as a new feature in Persona 4: The Golden?
      • In the same episode, when Morooka gets killed, they immediately joke about the killer being a wronged student of his trying to copy the previous murders. They probably have psychic powers, because wow.
    • They also said that Charlie should record the Midnight Channel with a VCR. Yu tries exactly that in the anime. With all of these, you'd wonder if Atlus watched this.
    • In Part 48, Dave sits in and watches as the guys go about their business. Funnily enough, he guesses (entirely at random) that the fox at the shrine is female.
    • A minor one but they make a Running Gag that Adachi keeps calling women bitches which at first seems a bit of a Flanderization. Then comes Persona 4: Golden where, if you made a social link with him, during the True Final Boss fight he calls Izanami a bitch.
      • Related, Jeff jokes that the letter he sends to Charlie at the end is just Adachi calling Charlie a bitch. Cue Golden, and it can actually call him a dumbass, as bluntly as the joke Jeff made.
    • Dave mentions in Part 140 that he'd like to see a game that combines elements of Persona and Fire Emblem. Atlus really must have been listening, considering the existence of Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE.
    • Once Chie learns God Hand later in the game. The duo uses it in nearly every major battle after that point, due to how ridiculously powerful it is. In Persona 4: Arena, God Hand is something of a Signature Move for Chie, with her using it in the opening and is one of her supers.
    • In episode 130, one of them jokingly suggests Adachi push Namatame in the TV. Guess who The Heavy is.
    • At the end of the final episode, Jeff insists that they "never do [an Endurance Run] ever again."
    • During the culture festival the game teases who is behind the fortune teller's booth, when it moves on, Jeff jokes that it would be revealed in "Persona 4 FES". They were only a couple letters (and numbers) off.
    • In Episode 60, Jeff offers several tips for "hustlers", among them calling all your girlfriends by the same nickname so you don't have to remember their names. Come Persona 5 and Makoto's social link, Makoto catches Eiko's sleazy boyfriend doing exactly that.
    • In episode 71, when Rise joins the team, she says she can help "with my power", to which Vinny retorts, "With your dancing power." Cut to a few years later...
