  • Anticlimax Boss: Empress Camilla dies offscreen with a single backstab from Merisiel.
  • Author's Saving Throw: Tarzan getting his stand-alone story on Volume 2 Hardback seems like this for readers who thought he was an Ascended Extra. It should be noted that the writer Erik Mona himself lamented that he wasn't used to its fullest in the story.
  • Moment of Awesome: Ruthazek, the Gorilla King, is one of the arch villains of Golarian, the greatest mortal servant of the demon lord Angazhan, and scourge of the Mwangi Expanse. The other characters react to his alliance with Kulan Gath with utter dread. But as soon as Tarzan enters the field, he's completely outmatched.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Mordred betraying Kyra by selling her out to the White Martians for using magic right after she saved his life, using said magic no less.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Imagine being pulled into Another Dimension filled with horrifying monsters and warriors from different worlds and time, many of whom are noted to be vile, amoral sociopaths, and that there is no way to prevent you from ending up there. Even if you managed to find a way to return home, there is nothing preventing it from pulling you back again years later as we have seen with Merisiel.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: The setting and characters make it the closest thing to Heroes of the Storm.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • The resident Big Bad, Empress Camilla, belongs to an obscure 40s comic called Jungle Comics, where she is an immortal queen descended from Norse explorers that somehow ended up in Africa.
    • Fantomah was a 1940's character with no relation whatsover with any Hyboria or Barsoom and she is probably the one character that nobody saw coming. Likewise, Stardust the Super Wizard by the same creator appears briefly in Volume 3.
    • Even though he was created by legendary artist Frank Frazetta, Thun'da is another obscure character from the 50s that is being heavily featured in the series, alongside with his love interest Pha.
    • Phondari from Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris was a minor character from a distant prequel series that took place centuries before the Barsoom comics and she is also confirmed to appear.
    • Volume 3 gives us the Walker of Worlds, an supporting character from the original Vampirella run and Phaidor, a supporting character from the Gods of Mars is set up as an major villain.
