YMMV / Parkway Drive

Go To

  • Anvilicious: "Dark Days" makes it clear that our days on Earth are numbered if we don't learn from our mistakes and protect the Earth. Not a bad message to have.
  • Broken Base: Ire, a logical step after Atlas, or a failed experiment?
  • Contested Sequel: Reverence. Some fans think is the logical progression of the band, growing out of melodic metalcore and embracing a larger than life arena rock sound that shows them growing as musicians and performers. On the flipside, other fans loathe the album for barely sounding like Parkway (namely it's lack of breakdowns and overall intensity) and feeling like Parkway wants to turn into the next Stone Sour without actually admitting it.
  • Friendly Fandoms: They get along quite nicely with fellow Australian band Thy Art Is Murder. Winston has had a feature on one of their albums and the two bands tour with each other often.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While loved in their native Australia and have a sizable fanbase in America and Asia, Parkway Drive is huge in Europe. Every summer they headline damn near every European festival, being put on the same level as older and more established bands such as Slipknot or Slayer. Their European shows often sell out and do much longer tours there than other metal bands.
  • Signature Song: "Carrion", "Karma", "Romance Is Dead" and "Wild Eyes" for their early material. "Vice Grip" and "The Void" for their later stuff.
