  • Fridge Logic: What is it about post-mortem rejuvenation that keeps us from thinking that whoever is killed does indeed fully die (i.e. have their consciousness ended), just to have a being with a different consciousness but the same uploaded DNA and memories take the place of whoever died/was killed? In other words, is everyone in this universe pretending (or doesn't realize) that the "revived" clones of people who died are just Replacement Goldfish? How do we know that consciousness does indeed continue from one body to the next? Perhaps Wilson's anxiety at the prospect of being killed in action is entirely justified...
    • At a few points in the text this is ruminated upon (and was arguably behind Dudley Bose failing to kill himself, resulting in the Primes gaining intelligence on wormhole technology), and the general ban on having more than one "copy" of a person seems to stem from trying to avoid this debate (i.e. "Who is the real 'you'?").
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • A human spaceship gets destroyed by being hit with 96 nuclear missiles from every direction at the same time. The pilot's last message to the enemy aliens? "Fuck you."
    • Mellanie becomes avatar of the Sentient Intelligence, grows gold electroplating all over her body, and single-handedly obliterates an enemy invasion fleet.
