- Accidental Aesop: As Civvie 11 put it in his video of the game: "Always remember to murder the children. Gentleman Bob didn't do it and he paid the price."
- Anti-Climax Boss: Can happen with some bosses found in poorly-lit areas or when they're mixed among the mooks, as you may think that you just shot another goon and then be surprised by the sudden cutscene playing.
- Awesome Music: With soundtrack director Clint Bajakian actively paying homage to Ennio Morricone throughout the soundtrack, this game has some of the best Spaghetti Western-styled music outside of the genre, especially The Last Gunfight and Showdown.
- Cult Classic: The game doesn't tend to be listed among the LucasArts greats, and the game didn't sell particularly well during its run. That said, it's still managed to gain a small but dedicated following, and those who played the game will nearly always say they greatly enjoyed it.
- Demonic Spiders: Shotgun-wielding mooks are this in any difficulty above "Good" (Easy), they can kill you in one shot at a moderately close range, any closer than that will also literally blow you across the room.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Beau Billingslea voiced "Buckshot" Bill Morgan, one of the many titular outlaws facing against a former law enforcement official. Later on Billingslea would be well known for voicing another former law enforcement official.
- Moral Event Horizon: There really was no reason for Doctor Death to burn down Anderson's home, kill his wife and kidnap his daughter. Graham just sent the wrong kind of sociopathic outlaw to scare a family off of their land, and brings up this mistake pointedly.
- Quirky Work: There's a secret area that features a stegosaurus that makes chicken sounds when shot, a velociraptor with a person's head, a rabid squirrel and a dog with sunglasses, among other things.
- Suspiciously Similar Song:
- "The Last Gunfight" is very similar to Ennio Morricone's "The Ecstasy Of Gold". This is likely deliberate.
- One part of "The Ballad of Dr. Death" sounds very similar to a movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's 5th Symphony.
- That One Level: Level 5: The Sawmill, because of its confusing maze-like layout, the sheer number of waterflow control puzzles, and the high number of shotgun-wielding enemies found in confined spaces.
