- Disappointing Last Level: The final section is this for some people, especially from an artistic standpoint. Half-Life sends you off to an alien world for the last four levels, but how does Opposing Force handle its final trek? A bland storage warehouse. Going from traversing an alien world to just making your way through a tough warehouse gauntlet between games will definitely feel like a downgrade. The final boss isn't that much better, as it's basically doing the same thing upwards of ten times with very little to create variation; even the earlier Pit Worm boss had a more interesting and dynamic fight.
- Goddamned Boss: The Gene Worm, in an attempt by Gearbox to copy the experience of the Nihilanth. Not only is it also repetitive, but it also doubles as an Anti-Climax Boss due to the all-too-conveniently placed laser cannons nearby and the healing pool in the next room.
- That One Level: The buildup to the Final Boss. It's a tough slog through a storage warehouse filled with Black Ops troops, both the male grunt type and the female fast-moving ninja type, with Race X troops showing up near the end to complicate matters further. Be prepared to do a lot of Save Scumming.
