YMMV / Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission

Go To

  • Porting Disaster: The Switch version is regarded the worst of the lot, as it lacks the Take Cover! mechanic and it also lacks gyro support.
  • Scrappy Weapon: Most fans generally agree the shotgun is the worst weapon in the game, since it barely works when enemies are far away, and only works if they're within range.
  • Shocking Moments: Let's just say nobody expected there to be a new Operation Wolf game in 2023, by Microids of all companies.
  • Spiritual Adaptation:
    • With its cartoonish visuals, the game feels reminiscent of G.I. Joe, right down to the Big Bad being named General Viper, who may or may not be a Cobra Commander Expy.
    • With the ability to Take Cover!, the ability to switch weapons such as a pistol, machine gun, and shotgun, enemies that fire life threatening shots, and missions being divided into several acts with the last one being the Boss Battle, this could very well be a long-lost Time Crisis title. The only thing that's missing is a time limit.
  • That One Boss:
    • The Gigatank. The boss hits very hard, not to mention there's a hostage that's very hard to find during the battle. And you can't go back to it if you miss it once you reach its final phase.
    • General Viper's plane. Unlike the rest of the game, this is the one part where you cannot Take Cover!.
