- Unexpected Character: Captain America is alone on a alien world, and he's suddenly attacked by... King Cobra? Batroc? Flag Smasher? Viper? Red Skull? Crossbones? Clearly, they are not illusions. They bleed human blood, so they are not robots. What then? Shape-shifters? Unlikely: they fight and behave exactly like the people they are supposed to be. Crossbones even remembers the last time they had fought! the Supreme Intelligence created them, extracting all those details from Cap's mind. They are tangible illusions, of the people that Cap perceives as his greatest enemies.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The name of this comic book may suggest a reference to the Gulf War (codenamed "Operation Desert Storm"), but no. Besides the name, there's nothing in the story that sets a similarity with specific real-life events.
