• Fridge Horror: Hades got Zelena's birthday out of Cora...somehow. And then he "took care of her..."
• He Really Can Act:
  • Rebecca Mader as demonstrated below.
  • Greg Germann gets to show by far his most range yet, completely selling Hades' falling for Zelena, followed by his rage at her distrust and rejection, and finally begging her to come back to him.
• Jerkass Woobie: As awful as she has been (and still continues to be), it becomes clear from the moment she pleads with Belle in the nursery how much Zelena truly loves her daughter. The rest of the episode just continues to be torture for her as she first has to watch Belle take her baby away (unable to stop her because of her lack of magic and her twisted ankle), then go to her sister for help in saving her from Hades, then watch Regina and Robin with the baby (while they refuse to give her back), and then finally realize her magic is dangerous to the baby and so she must give her up (just as her own mother did to her)...to protect her not only from Hades, but from herself. The scene where she says goodbye before handing her over is truly gut-wrenching—even Robin and Regina look on the verge of tears. Despite the circumstances behind the baby's existence, Zelena's emotions are genuine and truly do make you feel sorry for her, proof that Rebecca Mader really can act.
