YMMV / Once Upon a Time S4 E2 "White Out"

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Anna's sudden ability to swordfight becomes this after Frozen II, where in one trailer she was shown to draw Kristoff's sword against some unknown threat, while in the actual film she ends up drawing a frozen sword from one of the "water-turned-ice" memories...and when Kristoff asks her what she intends to do with it, she admits she has no idea.
    • The ice wall Elsa creates around Storybrooke, interestingly enough, shares some design elements with the wall of the glacier she enters in Frozen II.
  • Narm Charm: Little Bo Peep is a villainous warlord. Who brands people with her shepherd's crook so she can track them down. And is basically a mafiosa shakedown artist, complete with Protection Racket. It is equal parts ridiculous and fantastic. The Den of Geek review said:
"tonight they had Deadwood’s Calamity Jane playing Little Bo Peep, cockney warlord. While I can’t, admittedly, say that this was a specific dream of mine, seeing it on screen tonight made it abundantly clear that this was something my heart needed to witness."
  • Platonic Writing, Romantic Reading: David and Anna have killer chemistry in this episode. It's clear from the start that it's platonic (David guesses 'Joan' is Kristoff's fiancee) but they get incredibly close quite quickly. You'd be forgiven if you thought they were former lovers.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Be honest, did you expect the original Snow Queen to appear at all? Unless you read articles about Elizabeth Mitchell playing either Queen Gerda of Arendelle or the original Snow Queen, and would be a villainous role, it was likely unexpected.
    • For that matter, who imagined Little Bo Peep being a villain of the week?
