  • Adaptation Displacement: Book? What book?
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: One that often changes the staging of the scene depending on the production and the director's interpretation. After Daniel and Andrea have married, while tossing coins to the peasants outside of the wedding, Daniel wordlessly hands a coin to Ti Moune when she tries to speak to him, before leaving. Was this simply his way of saying goodbye, or did she mean so little to him all along that he had already forgotten about her within just a few weeks and mistook her for a beggar?
  • Awesome Music: "Pray", for the amazing harmonies (not to mention Mama's high note at the end, which must be heard to be believed), "Forever Yours" goes from heartwarming to chilling, and "Why We Tell the Story" is a triumphant ending. "Rain" as well, due to the sheer power of Agwe's voice. "Human Heart" might well move you to tears, as will "Part of Us".
  • Mood Whiplash: "Forever Yours" takes less than a second to change from a slow love song to the Villain Song.
