YMMV / On the Job

Go To

  • Award Snub: Sort of. On The Job was shortlisted for the Philippines' entry for the Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film. But the committee in charge decided to choose an unknown film called Transit as the country's entry. Matti was surprised by the decision most especially that they didn't even chose Brillante Mendoza's film, Thy Womb, which is an Oscar Bait. However, it bites back the dust when Transit didn't get shortlisted and earned a nomination.
  • He Really Can Act: Joey Marquez is surprisingly believable as Acosta, in spite of his usual kenkoy acting style. The comedy spots don't take away from the humanity and pathos of the character.
  • Narm: Daniel when he shows off his "tang-ina" tattoos. Never has a grown man sounded like a special child even when cursing.
  • Romantic Plot Tumor: There was no valid reason for introducing Diana halfway about through the film. We already knew that Daniel was willing to mislead his loved ones. The only purpose for her subplot is a narrow excuse to show Dawn Jimenez and Gerald having onscreen sex.
