• Harsher in Hindsight / Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Early on in the story, Vader concludes that Kylo Ren was turned to the Dark Side by the Emperor. Leia - not wanting him to know about Snoke and trying to keep as much of the future secrets possible - opts to confirm his conclusion, stating:
    "A lecherous old man poured poison into his brain, yes."
    • The Rise of Skywalker would go on to reveal that Palpatine was in fact behind Snoke's creation and was, "...every voice [Kylo Ren] ever heard inside [his] head." The first scene of the film even featured Kylo Ren flying to Exogol to track him down. Turns out Vader was a lot more on the money than anyone predicted.
• Tear Jerker:
  • Chapter 13: When Leia tells Luke the truth about Anakin Skywalker, his first reaction is denial. He just can't believe his father is using his freedom to enslave others.
    • Obi-wan cracking while arguing with Leia.
      "He's dead Leia! My brother vowed never to kneel in subservience to another again. My brother would never have murdered the defenseless younglings in the Jedi Temple!! My brother would not have harmed a hair on Padme's head. Everything that made up my brother is gone!"
      "...how can I still love and miss him, when I know such a monster is currently living in his skin!?!"
  • Chapter 19: Leia has a nightmare about TFA!Han's death. It weakens her shields enough that Vader gets in, only he's asleep and dreaming of Mustafar.
  • Scenes From the Middle Game:
    • Chapter 1, Vader: When Vader hears Palpatine kills him in Leia's future, he's relieved. After all, only death can free him.
    • Chapter 4, Luke: The entire chapter focuses his perspective during Chapter 13.
    • Chapter 5, Vader: Has a sad callback to The Phantom Menace and Anakin/Vader's conversation with both Padme and Leia over thirty years apart.

    Queen Amidala: You're a slave?
    Anakin: I'm a person and my name is Anakin
  • Scenes from the Middle Game
    Leia: No one stole me from you, because I am not a thing that can be stolen!"
    Vader: You are correct," he finally said "You are not a thing. You are a person, and your name is Leia.
