YMMV / Ocean's 11

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • When the crew are talking about what they'll do with their share, Sam Harmon says that he'll take away the vote from women and make them his slaves. A bit of Values Dissonance sexism becomes funny in the wake of Ocean's 8.
    • The opening credits were designed by Saul Bass. His credit was placed under a bell. A few years later, he would be asked to redesign the Bell System logo.
    • When Duke Santos is reveling about how his stepson is part of the heist, he lets out a laugh that sounds a little familiar six years down the road.
  • Values Dissonance: When the film was released, The Hays Code was still nominally in force and film critics vilified how the casino robbers weren't shown getting convicted at the end, even if they did see all the stolen cash go up in flames. With the remake, audiences and reviewers were no longer so morally-stringent about what makes an acceptable story and cheered to see the thieves' scheme pulled off with minimal hitches.
