YMMV / Nukie

Go To

  • Ass Pull:
    • Toki manages to communicate with Miko... who's at the Space Foundation in America. Somehow.
    • So their quest appears to have failed and all hope is lost... and how is it resolved? Toki wishes to the stars for his brother, mother, Miko and Nukie to be with him. And it works... yes, really.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The dance number Nukie performs to show the twins "how children discover sleep where (he) comes from". Neither Nukie nor the twins mention it afterward.
  • Bile Fascination: Practically inevitable when popular online critics denounce an E.T. ripoff as unwatchable. But even bad movie afficionados have found it hard to sit through.
  • The Scrappy: Nukie, for constantly whining and causing a lot of the problems that happen in the movie, including getting two children exiled by their tribe so they would die.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • The effects used for Nukie transforming into a shooting star are very clearly cel animation.
    • Additionally, Nukie and Miko's designs are overall very plastic looking and don't look at all convincing. Their facial animations (blinking, mouth movements) are also barely functional until later on in the movie. And even then it looks incompetent and broken.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The plot is too complicated for its own good, the aliens look disturbing and creepy, and children are exiled from their tribe with the expectation that they would die in the wilderness. Kids would be scarred for life watching this movie; that is, if they aren't falling asleep in the first place.
