YMMV / Nothing Is Sacred

  • Base-Breaking Character: Pete Coppermine. Some readers find his humor enjoyable, his playstyle interesting, and his intellect appealing. Others find him intrusive and obnoxious. His use of the Yami field spell during Duelist Kingdom did not do him any favors with the author stating that they have no plans of introducing him again at a later date due to the large amount of backlash Coppermine caused.
  • Fan Nickname: Shadow Stella, Dark Stella, or Allets to refer to the inner darkness Stella faced in the Dark Simorgh's cave.
  • Goddamned Boss: Stella vs. Pete Coppermine is both the longest and most disliked duel in the quest so far. This was largely due to Coppermine's use of the Yami field spell (see Scrappy Mechanic below) and eventually dragged on to the point that the readers voted to commit all their resources to recklessly attacking solely so that the duel would hurry up and end. This led to Coppermine's victory with the author admitting that he really could have handled that entire duel better and that the match would have ended that update regardless of whether Stella played it safe or not.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Saffira's prominence in this Yu-Gi-Oh quest would predict the release of the Silenforce archetype in Phantom Nightmare, which boosts Saffira, Saruvis and Skull Guardian. Saffira, Queen of Dragons, would later get a retrain in the form of Saffira, the Silenforcing Deity of Dragons.
  • Memetic Mutation: Hard ModeExplanation .
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Most of Duelist Kingdom's mechanical changes that give additional, narrative-based effects to certain cards have been generally well-received with one major exception: Yami. This single field spell allowed Stella's opponent to conceal his hand, his monsters, and his backrow while also allowing him to just not announce the activation of any of his cards. This led to what is so far the most annoying and tedious duel in the quest while also giving Pete Coppermine his status as a Base-Breaking Character.
