• Unintentional Period Piece: The story is accidentally dated because a key piece of information is from Pop Culture; Northwest Airlines. Moreover, the story’s conceit that at least the Golden Age Batman comics were based on a real Bruce Wayne, in a universe that doesn’t use Comic-Book Time, also makes it unreasonable to take place much later than it was written. The Golden Age Bruce Wayne was canonically born in 1912, making him 77 in 1989, which is perfectly realistic, but a centenarian Bruce would not be.
