• Cry for the Devil: Pit Geek is a disgusting murderous creature in the first book, but is presented much more sympathetically in the second as we learn about his mental state and background. Sundancer also becomes more sympathetic, especially when she finally accepts that the war between Rex Monday and Dr. Know is over.
  • The death-row inmates Dr. Know uses for his Wetware CPU while Richard didn’t believe in the death penalty he stressed that death was preferable even if they were Asshole Victim.
    • Making this worse one of the inmates was a Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds who welcomed his death sentence.
• Informed Attribute: The world is currently like it is because Dr Know is supposed to a fan of comicbooks yet he doesn’t know who Bruce Wayne is.
  • Fridge Brilliance: This gives a lot more credence to Rex Monday’s story.
• Moment of Awesome: Richards killing both Rex and Know
• Moral Event Horizon: Pit Geek and Panic and by association Rex Monday killing Veronica. The two took her hostage in the first place to force Richard to work for them. Then killed her in petty revenge when he angrily attacked them.
• Squick: As Richard was utilizing Power Perversion Potential the woman used the the toilet, oblivious to the fact that he was sitting on it. He found himself sharing her body.
  • When Sarah was seventeen and met a man at a concert just as they were about to get it on Amelia ripped off the roof of his Van, Dr. Know had been inside the guy’s head the entire time. Him not being able to read Richard’s mind is one of the primary reasons she became attracted to him.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Rex Monday spins a tragic tale of being stuck outside of reality watching as a counterpart of himself took over his life but given that fact that he is terrorist that repeatedly kills innocent people to all to get revenge on the one he perceived stole his life it’s impossible to feel sorry for him.

  Richard: Dude, you can't really think you were doing the right thing by starting wars, can you?
