  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Danny Hebert a.k.a. Ratcatcher. Is he a case of someone Slowly Slipping Into Evil or someone who was Forced into Evil? While he willingly joined the Court as a means to earn money, did he choose to stay or did he really not have a choice to leave after getting in too deep?
    • There’s also his decision to inform the Court about Annette going to the police, causing her death, and still staying with them. Was that decision made under the belief that the Court would retaliate against him and his daughter if he tried to leave or did he hit the Despair Event Horizon and not care about what happened if he stayed? There’s hints that both could be true. Complicating the situation is that Red Queen had slowly brainwashed the entire gang into abandoning their “rules” for an unknown time. This could also imply that he simply was operating on faulty assumptions that the Marquis could have been merciful whereas Red Queen would not.
  • Anti-Climax Boss: This can happen a few times due to the roll of the dice:
    • Red Queen was one of the strongest capes of the Court, as well as the person responsible for causing Taylor’s trigger event and later revealed to have brainwashed her father. Narratively, this would normally make her an Arch-Enemy to have to build towards beating, due to a high roll, she dies almost immediately after trying to forcefully recruit Taylor in her own home.
    • The Marquis is one of the most ruthless and deadliest capes in Brockton Bay, controlling a large territory and having a decently large number of mooks in his gang. On top of this, Dragon (the group) had killed his daughter and his retribution was the main reason for Taylor having to run and hide. He commits suicide after killing the Butcher during the Court Raid and becomes The Unfought for Dragon. He never even knew of Dragon’s existence or their hand in his daughter’s death, let alone that she was even dead to begin with.
    • The Butcher is described as a cunning woman, as well a dangerous threat that runs the Teeth, with a decent-sized gang and amount of territory. She gets unceremoniously killed by the Marquis during the Court Raid, effectively decapitating the Teeth and forcing them out of town.
  • Broken Base:
    • The decision to whether or not to execute Danny for his involvement in Annette’s death. Some of the anti-death arguments ranged from the morality of killing him, the possibility that Red Queen’s brainwashing could be fixed, or that Annette may still be alive. For the pro-death arguments ranged from punishing him for his crimes, the unlikelihood that he could be fixed, or just plain out not wanting to deal with him at all. After some heated debate, the decision ultimately came down to one swing vote in favor of execution.
