  • Funny Moments: Savlar's incredibly immature pissing match with the Mechanicus when the latter tried to convince them to join.
    • First, the initial, polite letter was met with a letter insulting the parentage of the Mars Council and accusing the Fabricator General of sexual deviance.
    • The second, much more forceful letter (delivered personally by Ferrus Manus no less) prompted a drawing of a Magos being anally penetrated by an anthropomorphic Aquila. Which was made from fecal matter applied via aerosol. At this point, the Steward had to step in once it became obvious that Savlar would gladly burn everything they cared about rather than let the Mechanicus have it, which would deprive the Imperium of its only reliable source of neutronium.
    • Now that Savlar is a Survivor Civilizationnote , they get to fuck with the Mechanicus even more. They decided that once the neutronium stockpiles are full, they'd hold the Great Savlar Scavenger Hunt: the first person to bring the Savlar Order everything on the list they post exactly as listed (with the slightest deviation resulting in disqualification) gets the whole stock to do with as they see fit. The Mechanicus has to compete with common traders, and the lists are so heavily randomized that even though at least some of the things on it are likely raw materials for neutronium, there's no pattern the tech priests can identify to reverse engineer the process to make it. And it's all but outright stated the Savlar Order is only doing this to spite the Mechanicus.
Savlar: Because Fuck You, That's Why
  • Nightmare Fuel: Don't let the Adaptational Heroism fool you — this is still Warhammer 40,000 we're talking about.
    • We actually get a little detail about the kind of depravity the Eldar got up to before the Fall. Slave breeders that competed to produce the specimen with the most genetic defects that was still capable of producing offspring, slaves being forced to cook their own flesh as a meal for their masters (with surgical sorceries so they'd stay alive for the whole process and experience extreme agony), incestuous rape as a coming of age ritual...and keep in mind, the Dark Eldar are the ones who escaped the Fall and didn't learn anything from it, meaning they might still be doing some of this stuff.
    • The World That Wasn't dips into outright Surreal Horror. It's a system located in the Veiled Region, an already weird place that the Eldar Empire avoided like the plague, there are no Tomb Worlds, and the only notable xenos are some slug-like creatures that appear to be completely insane and might not even be able to communicate, not even with each other, and which probably evolved from something introduced from outside the Region rather than something native to it. The Imperium thinks it's the place where the C'tan Llandu'gor the Flayer was killed by the Necrons, which apparently messed up reality pretty seriously even by 40K's normal standards. The World That Wasn't itself is located in a system where there's an asteroid belt where all the asteroids are less than a dozen meters in diameter and in irregular shapes. When the Mechanicus sent some servitor probes in to examine them, they discovered they were actually millions of daemons, including as least one Daemon Prince, all turned to stone and with expressions of terror frozen on their faces. As for the Daemon World these daemons once inhabited? It doesn't exist, and a significant area surrounding the planet also doesn't exist. It may seem to exist, but it doesn't, and any evidence to the contrary is incorrect.
