- Nightmare Fuel: This series does not hold back when it comes to the cruelty of the Lizzark army. In the first book alone, they brutally slaughter Herk's entire village, including a bunch of unhatched eggs (which can talk, proving that they have at least some intelligence and feelings), and they would not have treated Herk with any more sympathy because of his disability, seeing as he just barely gets away from them.
