• Spiritual Successor: The game is very similar to Half-Life: Opposing Force in that it's a spin-off not by the original developers (Gearbox and the Third Subdivision Team) following the setting of a huge, dark research facility (Black Mesa and Site-(REDACTED)) being ravaged by monsters (Aliens and SCPs) where instead of being a scared bystander (Gordon Freeman and D-9341), you're instead one of the armed-to-the-teeth mooks (Adrian Shepherd and the nameless Player Character MTF) commanding around a group of your peers (HECU and NTF). Hell, the game even starts with you in a helicopter with your squad just like Opposing Force! The dev also confirmed Opposing Force was a major inspiration for the mod.
