YMMV / Night Terror

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Due to his generally adorable nature, the fandom loves Vinny.
    • Vince was one of these as well, going from the star of the in-universe game Night Terror (that, presumably, wouldn't get be very relevant to the plot of Pilot) to one of Bones' most popular characters. In fact, because of his massive popularity, Night Terror's world was so well-defined and fleshed out that it got its own page.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Vince the Gay Snek. Almost everyone refers to him as a "snek" now.
    • Jesus Birb Shanta Monochrome
  • The Woobie: Oh, so many...
    • Oak Kaleidoscope suffers this as well. By the time she hatched from her egg, both her parents were already dead. She was raised by Vince and Darren only for Darren to die and become a Phobia. Vince was forced to kill him, doing horrible damage to his mental state and self-confidence. Oak then went through training to fight Phobias like Vince, only to take too long coming back, causing Vince to assume her dead and commit suicide. Vinny almost went insane, briefly reverting to his Phobia's second form before being calmed down. The two then had to go and kill Vince's phobia form, with Vinny on the verge of mental breakdown the entire time. She then had to descend into The Nightmarescape to save Tybalt, and do battle with the Boogeyman. Remember, all this is happening to a 17 year old.
    • Vince Heliotrope isn't immune to this either. Let's see, he falls into the Nightmarescape when he's just a little kid, escaping solely because of the Boogeyman's failed evil clone of him. Then, years later, his father figure and teacher Jasper dies. And then his lover dies as well. He then has to live with the horrible feelings of regret, having failed to save either of them. And then, Oak takes a long time to return, causing him to assume her dead. Vince goes completely mad, commits suicide, and rises again as the very thing he's spent his whole life fighting.
    • Vinny. Oh dead GOD, Vinny. He exists to be an evil copy of Vince, solely so that the Boogeyman would have a trump card allowing him to take over the world. Once Vince falls into the Nightmarescape, Vinny decided to help him by lending him his wings. Boogeyman then brutally rips off his wings in front of everybody, and then dumps him in an empty world without even shadow minions for company. Several Phobias try to reach out and help him, only for Boogeyman to force them to stop, leaving him alone again. By the events of Night Terror 1, he's a broken husk of the child he once was, and he attacks Vince without a second thought, almost killing him. He reforms and turns into a Dreamscaper... And then Vince commits suicide, causing Vinny to briefly go into his Phobia form again. He's forced to go with Oak to kill Vince's Phobia form, on the verge of a mental breakdown the entire way. After saving Vince, they then have to go confront the Boogeyman, the person responsible for all this pain and suffering he's felt all his life.
    • Tybalt as well, though not to the extreme of the three above. By no fault of his own, he accidentally upstaged his brother several times, to the point where Bo committed suicide. The feelings of hatred he'd placed in his brother's heart turned him into the Boogeyman. In other words, he caused his brother to kill himself, simultaneously creating the most evil entity in the entire Night Terror series. He then got his face brutally ripped off by the Boogeyman, and spent an unknown amount of time forced to wear a mask to heal. Yet, despite all this, he's still just so nice that none of the fans saw this coming before Bones revealed it.
