YMMV / Night of the Demons (1988)

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The opening theme in all of its old-school goodness.
  • Designated Villain:
    • A lot of reviews talk about Angela being a villain, describing her as a female Freddy Kruger. However, whereas Freddy was a monster when he was alive, Angela seemed relatively nice (nicer than some of the other characters) until she was possessed. Surely Angela is a victim, and the demon is just wearing her skin?
    • The third film did sort of address this. The characters could not just be possessed, they had to actually consent to it. While they may not have been that bad as humans, they did willingly sign up knowing they would do evil deeds. Presumably the seance in this film was enough to qualify as consent but they were all unaware and so can’t be considered informed or responsible.
      • Except, in 3 the terms of "consent" are very loose, using promises Angela has no real intention of fulfilling to get them to do so, and usually kills and possesses the ones who don't agree immediately anyway.
  • Les Yay: Suzanne possesses Angela with a kiss. A really long kiss.
  • Squick: Judy's little brother seems a little too focused on her breasts, going so far as to hide in her closet while she's changing, openly tell her how impressed he is when he sees her partially naked, and later asking her boyfriend if he isn't interested in her "because of her big cha-chas."
