• Badass Decay: Prior to his feud with Triple H, Eugene matches got bigger pops than those in the main event, leading to Eugene himself being put in the main event where he would have easily defeated World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit if not for the interference of Evolution. After the feud with Triple H, which Eugene undeniably lost, he slowly but surely became a jobber.
• Base-Breaking Character: Even ignoring his track record, the entire Eugene character is bound to bring up some debate, namely with the fact his gimmick was of being a mentally-disabled wrestling savant. Many folks have been quick to deem this as an uncomfortable and cloying caricature, others have found Eugene to be a good-natured and charming presence.
