  • Awesome Music: A major contributor to the atmosphere of the film is its ominous, pulsating score by Klaus Schulze. Of particular note is its use of Schulze's "Death of an Analogue", originally from his album Dig It, as the main theme.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The film has often been compared to The Shining, and for good reason. It is terrifying. Especially the third act.
    • Really, there's just something inherently frightening in the idea that not only is your family possibly cursed, but that some of them are actively trying to kill you.
    • Jackie Kerin's intense and hauntingly believable portrayal of Linda's Sanity Slippage further adds to the horror.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • The Woobie: Linda. By the time it's all over, she's been through so much pain, loss, and betrayal that you wish you could somehow reach into the screen and give her a hug.
