• Alas, Poor Villain: Poor Carnelian... She was just doing her job, even if she was a bit overzealous.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: White Diamond is quite popular amongst fans despite only so far only appearing in one scene in Chapter 4, which only showed her blurry silhouette and no dialogue. Originally, White Diamond was not going to have a major role in the story or a personality, but fan enthusiasm for her character and input caused the creator to develop her personality and backstory.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In "Beta," we catch the first mention of a canon Carnelian, who is said to have "come out sideways." A fan pointed out that this eerily matches up with how NH!Carnelian's hair is always pushed off to the side.
  • And as an accidental Brick Joke of sorts, "That Will Be All" has a Carnelian actually appear on the show...and she looked◊ awfully close to New Home's interpretation, albeit a lot shorter.
  • The premise of New Home itself becomes this with "Steven's Dream", as they both feature a Universe being taken by a Diamond.
  • Repeated later on in "I Am My Mom" where Steven surrenders himself to Homeworld Gems to save his friends. It's also Harsher in Hindsight.
• Jerkass Woobie: Though two of them have yet to officially appear in New Home, Word of God has revealed all three of the Diamond Authority to be this. Keep in mind that the "jerkass" part comes from being intergalactic conquerers who view their subjects as expendable to varying degrees.
  • Yellow Diamond has grown distant from her "sisters", leading to the other two to always be suspicious of her motives and thus putting her on a knife's edge from possibly being shattered. Doesn't stop her from shattering a loyal subject like Carnelian.
  • Blue Diamond believes an old reward system she set up led to Pink Diamond trusting her subjects too much, leading to her shattering. Of course, her system was flawed in that she was extremely fickle with her gifts to those Gems.
  • White Diamond has become more militant and controlling of her fellows... and already doesn't deal with loneliness well, having been alone for eons already before Yellow existed.
• Love to Hate: According to Yellow Diamond, White Diamond is a jerk. Though she has yet to appear, according to reader headcanons and unreleased material, White Diamond is easily the most villainous and terrible person in the entire AU. That being said, she's almost universally adored by readers.
