• Alternative Character Interpretation: Did the Coalescence spare Ian because he was a loyal supporter of theirs and had taught them everything he could about humans, or because they wanted to know what humans would do to a willing traitor of their own kind?
• Idiot Ball: The Minkowski has one of its victims shoot another one of its victims instead of Doctor Giacomi. This both puts less people under its control and leaves both Sadie and Melissa alive to continue wreaking havoc with its plans.
  • It's worth noting though, the Minkowski was well aware that its Dragon was still free, and one of its objectives was to test out how humans feel pain.
• The Woobie: Sean. He was the only survivor of a Nehrings' attack. (Meaning he was stuck on a boat surrounded by monsters and corpses.) When he was finally recused, he was declared dead by the Government who, given his dual citizenship, have no idea what to do with him. The Par Lab Lockdown did nothing for his well-deserved Claustrophobia, and finally, he was murdered by someone he thought he could trust because he couldn't be infected by the Coalescence.
