YMMV / Neon Revenge

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: The comic's premise centers around a group of people hunting down bullies and making them pay for their actions ten-fold. Said bullies are also almost always characterized as cruel, sadistic Hate Sinks who do what they do primarily For the Evulz. As a result, there's not much sympathy to be had when they inevitably end up on Neon Mask's hit-list and get taken down in the most degrading, brutal manner possible. Special mention goes to Taesop Yang, who isn't even a big-name bully himself, but a Dirty Coward who weaseled his way into a gang and betrayed everyone he knew, just so he wouldn't be targeted himself.
  • Draco In Leatherpants: A lot of readers got really attached to Taesop after his backstory of being a former bully-victim got revealed. Many expressed hope that he'd make a Heel–Face Turn somewhere along the way, seeing as he became a bully mostly through hanging out with the wrong crowd. However, as described in Catharsis Factor above, that still doesn't change the fact that he participated in and enjoyed Noppagu's crimes for entirely selfish reasons. When Neon Mask starts the Noppagu-special by delivering a steaming pile of Laser-Guided Karma to him, a compilation of Taesop's former victims is shown and none of them in any way defend his choices, even calling him a traitor for what he's done.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Seokhyeon, one of Domin's underlings, for being The Eeyore and for his sympathetic motivation of wanting to buy a wheelchair for his sick mother.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With Weak Hero, another popular webcomic that features an anti-social teenager who becomes a Bully Hunter to avenge a loved one. Some fans of Weak Hero go as far as to say Neon Revenge is a knock-off of the former.
  • Friendly Fandoms: On the other hand, there are just as many Weak Hero and Neon Revenge-fans who enjoy both series. Some even jokingly ask for a crossover.
