  • One-Scene Wonder: Zawisza Czarny is technically present for a bit more than one scene (chapter and a half, to be more precise) but he still appears briefly while making one hell of an impression. In a series where most knights are presented as selfish, cynical, cowardly, arrogant, excessively violent or all the above, Zawisza is a true-blue if jaded Knight in Shining Armor who outright says he is willing to stick to his ideals even if he's aware they will likely lead him to an untimely death.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: Some of Sapkowski's references have an anachronistic tinge to them and might be seen by some as commenting on modern events. The author doesn't help: One scene has a Hussite commander proclaim that their novel ideas combining infantry, wagonry and firearm tactics with a prominent use of psychological warfare "... shall be known by the trembling masses under a new name... terrorism". Yeeeaaahh...
