  • Funny Moments:
    • "What do you want from us? We're evil! EVIL!"
    • Tom's speculation on how Ator built the hang glider, starting off with quasi-plausible Bamboo Technology before giving up and talking about how hang gliders are actually made.
  • Cult Classic: Mostly for the MST3K version.
  • Growing the Beard: This episode and Pod People are widely considered to be the best episodes to show newcomers to introduce them to the concept of MST3K and riffing on movies.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • During the Invention Exchange, Dr. Forrester quips that Frank won't be singing "The Man In My Little Girl's Life". Fast forward well nigh on a quarter century, and the new Mads for Season 11 are the daughter of Dr. Forrester and the son of TV's Frank.
    • The show did eventually get around to riffing the original film... a whole twenty-seven years later.
    • One of the riffs suggests that the actors are writing the script as they go. Come 1996, Spaghetti Nightmares cited director Joe D'Amato as saying that The Blade Master was indeed filmed "almost without a script," and David Cain Haughton (who plays Zor) has said in a 2003 interview that the story did include a lot of suggestions from the actors.
  • Ho Yay: For the MST3K Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, Mike Nelson penned an... interesting tribute to Miles O'Keefe. An excerpt:
    shadows
I watch the way they fall
    upon the valleys
    by the bulges
    hair? golden
    eyes? stars (oh, Elysium!)
