• Unintentional Period Piece:
  • In the very first book, Susan recommends going to the library and listening to a certain song on a record. A vinyl record. Even when it came out this was odd, since, by 1989 CDs had been the dominant format for years, but in the age of Youtube, this comes off as super dated. Ironically, vinyl made a comeback starting in The New '10s.
  • The video game, which was made in The '90s, features people wearing baseball caps backwards (A common fashion trend then) and a bully with a long-sleeved shirt tied around his waist. And the internet page is VERY nineties — heck, the characters use a browser that looks like Internet Explorer!
  • The video game also features Duncan asking the janitor if there are any tools that can be used as a weapon. Today, this would NOT be acceptable to put in a computer game! Funny Foreigner janitor or not, Duncan would be sent right to the principal's office at the very least.
